ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in the small community of White Plains, Alabama, which is located about two hours north of Auburn. It is nestled in the beautiful countryside of Calhoun County, just east of Anniston and Oxford. I grew up on a farm, complete with cattle, soybeanshayfields, and a lot of hard work. I believe this is where the work ethic, drive, and tenacity was instilled into my character.

Also deeply rooted within me is a competitive spirit. As I was growing up, playing football, basketball, and baseball not only allowed me to put my competitiveness into action, it also taught me numerous life-lessons and helped me develop the leadership qualities I exhibit even today. Not only do I enjoy winning, I also love challenges that ultimately make me a better person. I am constantly striving to make myself better in some shape or form.

More importantly, my love for pharmacy comes from my desire to help people. Not only do I want to help people feel better physically, I also want to help them feel better emotionally and even spiritually. As a pharmacist, I believe I will be in the perfect role to brighten someone's day, lift someone's spirits, or simply let someone know that they are truly cared for and about. Knowing that I will have the opportunity to wake up each day and have a postive impact on someone's life is what excites me the most about starting my new career.

Over the course of pharmacy school, I have developed a Personal Philosophy of Pharmacy Practice that I believe will help define my identity as a healthcare professional. I believe this set of values guides the way I live now and will also guide the way I practice pharmacy throughout my career. My Personal Philosophy of Pharmacy Practice is summarized below:

  • Altruism. I believe in an unselfish devotion to the welfare of each of my patients. My primary responsibilty as a pharmacist is making sure I care for and about my patients.

  • Honesty and Integrity. I believe in practicing pharmacy in a way that will gain and maintain patient trust. I will also hold myself accountable for adhering to both pharmacy laws and the ethical standards of pharmacy practice.

  • Leadership. I believe in motivating others to find the best within themselves. I feel that the best way to do this is to lead by example. On a daily basis, I aim to exhibit qualities that others would like to emulate.

  • Commitment to Excellence. I believe in constantly striving to make myself a better pharmacist. This includes both continuing to develop my knowledge and skills as a healthcare professional as well as giving back in order to promote the advancement of the profession. I understand that the way I practice will not only affect myself and my patients, but also the profession and society as a whole.

  • Faith. Just as the Auburn Creed states, I believe in "walking humbly with my God." I believe as long as He is first in my life, all of the values I mentioned above will take care of themselves.
