EXAMPLES OF SOME OF MY BEST WORKS:

Platform Presentation

This was my Professional Seminar Platform Presentation, which I presented to a group of pharmacy practice faculty and pharmacy students at Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, GA. The presentation was focused on the history of community-associated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CA-MRSA), guideline recommendations for the treatment of CA-MRSA skin and soft tissue infections (SSTIs), and literature that addresses the use of antibiotics as adjunctive therapy to incision and drainage (I&D) for the treatment of CA-MRSA SSTIs. This presentation is an excellent representation of my ability to evaluate primary literature and formulate evidence-based recommendations that can be applied to clinical practice.

Manuscript

This manuscript was written by myself and two of my colleagues and was reviewed by our preceptor while on rotation at the Auburn University Drug Information Center. It focuses on the management of migraines, including both acute and preventative treatment. My primary role in the development of this manuscript was the composition of the migraine prophylaxis section, but I was also involved in formatting and editing the entire document. Click the button below to gain insight into my professional writing style. The manuscript is being submitted to the Alabama Pharmacy Association (APA) for publication in the organization's journal,

Alabama Pharmacy, with the purpose of providing continuing education credit for pharmacists.

Patient Presentation

This presentation was given to a group of pharmacists, pharmacy residents, and pharmacy students while on an ambulatory care experiential rotation. The presentation focused on an overview of current conflicting recommendations for blood pressure control in patients with diabetes and an evaluation of the literature used to create these recommendations.  All of this information was applied to a specific patient with diabetes and an average blood pressure that falls between conflicting blood pressure goals. This presentation displays my ability to evaluate guideline recommendations in order to provide optimal, evidence-based pharmaceutical care

In-service Presentation

This was a lay presentation given to employees of the Lee County Youth Development Center (LCYDC). The focus of the presentation was to provide an overview of ADHD, discuss the treatment, review common side effects of these medications, and explain how to manage these side effects. This presentation portrays my ability to educate the general public by making pharmaceutical and healthcare information interesting and easy to understand.

Journal Club Presentation

This was a drug information journal club presentation, which included information related to medical literature in addition to the discussion of a clinically relevant topic. The focus of this presentation was the clinical impact of the drug interaction between clopidogrel and proton pump inhibitors in patients with acute coronary syndromes. This presentation displays my approach to evaluating the quality of primary literature as well as my ability to determine the clinical significance of a commonly encountered, yet controversial, drug interaction.

Drug Information Response

This is a formal response to a drug information question I received from a community pharmacist while on rotation at the Auburn University Drug Information Center. This response is an excellent representation of my systematic approach to searching literature and drug information resources in order to provide a thorough, evidence-based response to another healthcare professional. It also displays my professional written communication skills.

Clinical SOAP Note

This is an example of one of the comprehensive clinical SOAP notes I wrote while on rotation at the VA Outpatient Clinic in Columbus, GA. It focuses on both the pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment of diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and hypertension. This SOAP note demonstrates my systematic approach to managing complex patients as well as my rationale for clinical decision-making. My ultimate goal is to ensure continuity of care through easy-to-understand, comprehensive interprofessional communication.
